Despite the large number of advantages, the Nissan Almera is still not perfect. He has weak points.
The first of them is low-quality optics. Firstly, the headlight plastic begins to turn yellow after three years of operation. Car enthusiasts try to polish it, but often injure the material, achieving only light and short-term bleaching. Secondly, when you try to put more powerful lamps, the contacts melt. Due to the leaky structure of the head optics, water constantly penetrates under the protective valve, which leads to frequent burnout of the dipped beam. Car owners, if they do not make significant changes to the design, will regularly update the lighting.
The manual transmission of the Nissan Almera is reliable, but at the same time it does not include reverse gear quite well. It will be difficult for girls to adapt to such an inclusion.
Oil leakage from under the valve cover is a common problem for the Japanese. And it’s not a poor-quality gasket or deformation of the cover. The design feature does not allow the knot to be tightly sealed. Motorists have to resort to the help of heat-resistant lubricants and additional seals.
The interior is also marked by imperfections. The first of these is non-folding rear seats. It is impossible to put a long load (the same skis) through the trunk. The luggage compartment cannot be enlarged. The salon itself looks spacious, but it can comfortably seat only four people. The driver’s seat has too limited horizontal adjustment.
The fabric used in the decoration is overwritten after 80 thousand kilometers. To keep its presentation until the time of sale, you will have to use protective covers. It will not be possible to keep plastic in perfect condition – it is scratched from any mechanical impact. But it does not creak in the cold.
Due to the stiff suspension, passengers get tired of long distances. If the rear wheel gets into a hole or jumps on a bump, this force is instantly transferred to the passengers.

Toyota Corolla
The main competition for the Nissan Almera was the 10th generation Japanese Toyota Corolla. It was produced in parallel with the Classic, but had a much more attractive appearance and rich technical stuffing. Under the hood of the Corolla, gasoline engines were installed, with a volume of 1.3-1.6 liters and a power of 97-124 hp. This car turned out to be faster and more interesting than Nissan, so it was bought more often.
The basic equipment was not modest, it included:

- electric drive and electric heating of side mirrors,
- outside temperature sensor,

The first generation of the Cruise was produced simultaneously with the Nissan Almera Classic. But they bought the model much more often than the Japanese competitor. The fact is that Cruz had a more powerful range of engines, and, therefore, he could confidently attract “urban racers”. Under the hood of this model, 1.6-1.4-liter units could be hidden, with a maximum power of 141 hp. This was enough to capture the attention of the youth.
Competitors
Chevrolet Lacetti is a direct rival of Almera Classic. He entered the Russian market in 2004, immediately after the reorganization of the company, when the European division of the brand appeared. Previously, the same car was sold in many markets under the name Daewoo Nubira. Now the Lacetti has remained only in the markets of second-tier countries, and in advanced Europe it was replaced by an ideologically different, more modern Chevrolet Cruze.
The Ford Focus of the new, third generation is a more modern and sophisticated car. Its starting price tag still allows it to compete with the Almera Classic, although until the new year the rivalry with her was given to Ford easier. After all, before the advertising price of the new Focus splashed at the competitive level of 499,000 rubles, and now, the same car costs 542,000 rubles …
The advantages of the Focus for this money are novelty and a different, more modern technological level. The advantages of Almera are well-functioning design and much richer equipment for comparable money …
Opel Astra Family (Astra H – the previous generation of the model since 2004) remained on the Russian market after the arrival of the successor: Opel Astra J. Now the car of the previous generation is assembled at the Russian Avtotor automobile plant in Kaliningrad.

- If something whistles in the car when the engine speed increases, then know that the alternator belt roller needs to be replaced. It costs 1960 rubles. Also, the belt may wear out (800 rubles).
- Catalysts in sedans are changed every five years. But you need to watch out for noise and rumble. As soon as you hear them, immediately change, because the stuffing from the catalytic converter crumbles. They act in a simple way. Just remove this problem along with the element.

Almera The classic was sold in five trim levels, the first two PE (-) and PE (-C-) are available only with a manual gearbox. The top three PE + (-A-), PE + (AA-B) and SE could be with manual or automatic transmission.
Starting Equipment PE (—) did not have electronic security systems, air conditioning. But it can offer a driver’s airbag, front power windows, manual adjustment of side mirrors, a steering wheel trimmed with polyurethane, two audio speakers, central locking and an immobilizer, stamped wheels, 175/70 R14 tires.
The main difference between the PE(-C-) configuration is air conditioning.
PE + (-A-) boasts heated and electrically adjustable side mirrors, metallic color (in previous versions, you need to pay extra for it), heated front seats, 3rd rear headrests.
PE+(AA-B) features the following options: ABS, EBD, BAS, 4-speaker audio system.
The most expensive SE package offers: R15 alloy wheels, a steering wheel trimmed with artificial leather, power windows at the rear, mechanical height adjustment of the driver’s seat.
