Specifications
Audi A6 offers engines for every taste – as many as four options. The A6 can be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a 3.0-liter V6, both of which are turbocharged. The four-cylinder power unit produces 248 hp, V6 – 335 hp. Both have mild hybrid setups and are mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The standard turbocharged engine is perfect for everyday commuting and gets the car up to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds.
For more thrills, the manufacturer offers S6 and RS 6 Avant. The Audi S6 is equipped with a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 444 hp. With this engine, the S6 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and travels at a top speed of 250 km/h.
The most powerful engine in the high-performance Audi RS 6 Avant. The station wagon is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 with two turbines, with a capacity of 591 hp. RS can accelerate to hundreds in 3.5 seconds, and its top speed is 305 km/h. Both the S6 and RS 6 have an eight-speed automatic transmission.
A6 with a standard four-cylinder engine consumes 8.7 l / 100 km.
The A6 provides a quiet and comfortable ride. The car easily maneuvers around corners and does not allow passengers to feel road flaws.
The Audi A6 features signature Quattro all-wheel drive in all 2021 trims.

Three types of boxes were installed on the A6 C6: a mechanical, 6-speed Tiptronic automatic and a Multitronic wedge-chain variator. The most reliable Tiptronic was installed on all-wheel drive models. The latter, if it fails, is only due to the sport mode of operation, the result is the failure of the valve body with a run of more than 100 thousand km. A feature of the Tiptronic box is the barely noticeable jerks that appear over time when switching from 1st to 2nd, especially when driving in traffic jams. This does not affect the performance of the “machine” and is not a mandatory sign of its imminent death. The oil filled in for operation in the box is designed for its entire service life, but experts still recommend resorting to the replacement procedure after 60,000 km.
Multitronic, although more comfortable when driving, is considered not the most reliable. In its design is a package of “wet” clutch. At each start of movement, the clutch discs slip, as a result of which they become very hot and cooled by oil in the box. Therefore, it is very important for the long life of the variator good oil and its timely replacement. The manufacturer recommends doing this every 60 thousand km, but if most of the time the car is operated in traffic jams, then it is better to reduce the period to 30-40 thousand km. This box is very afraid of “traffic jams” and slippage. The first repair, as a rule, has to be done with a run of more than 100 thousand km, but there are owners who rewound 200 – 260 thousand km without any problems with the variators.
Fuel consumption
Despite a decent engine size (compared to small cars), the 2021 Audi A6 turned out to be quite economical. Here’s what the road test showed:
55 TFSI | 50 TDI | 45 TDI | |
City | 9.1 | 6.4 | 6.2 |
track | 5.5 | 5.4 | 5.2 |
Mixed cycle | 6.8 | 5.8 | 5.6 |
Tank volume, l. | 63 | 63 | 63 |
Sufficient efficiency for such a car is due to control systems for controlling the engine and gearbox. For example, all power units are equipped with a small Start/Stop electrical installation. It pre-stops the engine before the wheels come to a complete stop. And when driving at idle, the internal combustion engine turns off briefly to save fuel.
Maintenance cost
Despite the fact that the contents of the 2021 Audi A6 will be cheaper than those of competitors, it cannot be called affordable for the average Russian. Depending on the chosen engine and region of registration of the model, the cost of the annual road tax is 15-30 thousand rubles. In addition, regular scheduled maintenance is required. The final cost, of course, directly depends on the type of services performed, but we can say with confidence that it will be in the range from 15 to 50 thousand rubles. The manufacturer’s warranty on the Audi A6 is issued for a period of 4 years or 120,000 km, but it will be valid subject to full maintenance.
Interior and controls
The high technologies implemented in the new executive sedan provide maximum comfort with a minimum number of parts. There is nothing superfluous inside, the interior does not seem overloaded with decorative elements. Other features include:
- two large 8.6″ and 10.1″ HD touchscreens, perfectly aligned with the front panel;
- Audi virtual cockpit with 12.3″ display and impressive personalization functionality;
- a simple and convenient MMI control system that allows you to move and fix auto functions on the touch screen like application shortcuts on your phone.
In addition, the MMI system allows you to create up to seven driver profiles, each of which can store up to 400 vehicle settings. Management is simple, to use any function just a few touches. Activating them requires pressing the touchpad with some force – this measure provides security and prevents accidental unwanted pressing of the virtual button.
Handling and off-road performance
After the generational change, the German 2021 Audi A6 received significantly more precise, improved steering. This manufacturer was able to achieve by equipping the new model with a different chassis, making the car more maneuverable. On straight lines, the “German” confidently stays in the lane, and enters turns without any rolls and attempts to break from a given trajectory.
The off-road capabilities of a car in any body type cannot be called brilliant. Of course, a good ground clearance and the presence of many traffic assistants allow the car to overcome problem areas of an asphalt or dirt road, but it’s clearly not necessary to count on driving through a swampy gap, a sandy or rocky area.
Dynamics and consumption
The 2021 Audi A6 is a fairly large and heavy sedan, but each of its engines can provide excellent dynamic performance with quite economical fuel consumption. The following figures are presented in the technical documentation:
- 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel with 190 hp and 400 Nm of torque paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox and front-wheel drive accelerates the car from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.4 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 237 km / h. Fuel consumption – 5.2 liters per 100 km;
- 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid petrol unit with 190 hp with a seven-speed robotic gearbox and front-wheel drive, it accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds. The maximum speed corresponds to the previous unit, but the fuel consumption is slightly higher – 5.8 liters per 100 km;
- 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid petrol engine with 245 hp paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox and all-wheel drive, it is characterized by acceleration to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds, a maximum speed of 250 km / h and fuel consumption of 6.8 liters;
- V-shaped 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 249 hp with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, it accelerates the car to 100 km / h in 6.1 seconds. The maximum speed is 250 km / h, and fuel consumption is 6.4 liters per 100 km;
- V-shaped 3.0-liter turbocharged hybrid petrol unit with 340 hp with a seven-speed robotic gearbox and all-wheel drive, it accelerates to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 250 km / h and fuel consumption of 6.8 liters per 100 km.
Sports ambitions
The current 2021 Audi A6 has many features that emphasize its sporty spirit. Among them:
- Electromechanical Servotronicwith which the force on the steering wheel changes in accordance with co speedew vehicle movement. This solution improves the sensitivity of the steering wheel at high speeds and facilitates maneuvering in parking lots at slow speeds.
- Dynamic Steering System, allowing you to turn the wheels of the rear axle at an angle of up to five degrees. When the front and rear wheels turn in different directions, the car becomes more agile, making it easier to park and change lanes in heavy traffic.
- Large 20″ wheelsthat add to the attractiveness of the new Audi A6 2021. The car looks even more athletic, while also reducing the noise level while driving. Design options – “5-spoke V” and “5-spoke V Star”, tire size – 255/40 R20.
