Driving a car
The torpedo of the car, like a few years ago, does not have many elements. From above, two deflectors of a simple shape and modest size perfectly blow the interior, and a little lower you can see the screen of the main multimedia system, with which you can configure most of the car options.
Even closer to the central tunnel are several blocks of buttons that allow you to control everything else, such as the air conditioning system. On the tunnel itself, there are much fewer elements. It all starts with a small recess for working with remote devices and their wireless charging, then there is a small block with physical buttons for controlling travel modes, and only then are the gearshift and parking brake handles, several cup holders and recesses for medium-sized things, and also quite comfortable. armrest with roomy glove box inside.
As for the steering wheel, it has changed much less: still small, with a thick rim, pleasant to the touch, thanks to the eco-leather trim. It is also quite convenient due to the fact that the spokes contain a dozen buttons and levers, many of which are responsible for several functions at once!
Immediately behind the steering wheel is a fairly familiar instrument panel. It is difficult to find anything on it, except for a quite ordinary speedometer, tachometer and a slightly brighter “sideboard”.
Accommodation of passengers and cargo
The quality of the seats has become undeniably better: they get off only with good fabric or leather substitute, have soft filler and good support from the sides. Heating of the first two seats is also available, as well as adjustment of their positions using electric drives. At the back, everything is a little simpler, but even here you can count on several adjustments and, most importantly, room for three, not even the smallest adult riders.
To match the seats and the trunk: 365 liters for such a small car is very good, especially since, by folding the back row, you can “grow up” to almost 1300 liters!
The interior of the new Jeep
The interior design of the car, as well as its exterior, received a minimum number of changes, including: a new Uconnect infotainment center, a modified climate control unit and a niche for storing various small things that appeared, located between the center console and the transmission tunnel.
The architecture of the front dashboard still looks modern, attractive and original – what is the wide handle located on the front dash on the passenger side.
Driver’s workplace presented by a comfortable three-spoke multi-steering wheel, as well as an easy-to-read instrument cluster, represented by a pair of analog dials and a large trip computer LCD monitor.
The main place on the central dashboard is reserved for the Uconnect multimedia center, the screen diagonal of which, depending on the configuration option, ranges between 5-8.4”. The quality of materials and assembly of the cabin is at a very decent level and is consistent with the class of the car.
Despite its compactness, Jeep Renegade interior easily accommodates five passengers, where the front riders are offered comfortable seats with good lateral support, a lot of adjustments and high-quality padding.
Rear sofa profiled for two adults and one child, although it can easily accommodate three adult riders.
Trunk volume in a five-seater version of the cabin it is equal to 351 liters, and with the backs of the second row of seats folded down, it reaches 1297 liters. In the underground of the luggage compartment there was a place for a spare tire and a small repair kit, which is indispensable on long trips.
Engines, transmission, fuel consumption
The Sport and Latitude trims come standard with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 180 hp and 237 Nm of torque. All Renegade are fitted with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
All versions are front-wheel drive as standard, with all-wheel drive available as an option.
The estimated value of fuel consumption for a car with all-wheel drive in the urban cycle is 11.2 l / 100 km, outside the city – 8.1 l / 100 km, in the combined cycle – 9.8 l / 100 km.
For the front-wheel drive version, the values \u200b\u200bare as follows: 10.7 / 7.6 / 9.4 l / 100 km, respectively. The performance in both options is quite low, as for this segment of cars.
Optional for these versions is a new 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine (also installed as standard in the Trailhawk and Limited trim levels), which develops 177 hp. and torque 271 N.m.
Along with it, the car is equipped with a Start / Stop system and active front grille blinds (in all trim levels except Trailhawk) to increase fuel efficiency.
At the time of this writing, official fuel consumption figures for the new Jeep Renegade with this engine have not been made public, but they should definitely be better than those of the base 2.4-liter engine.
Specifications
The manufacturer’s claims that the new Jeep Renegade 2019 will have phenomenal technical characteristics have not materialized. The heart of the Jeep Renegade is a EURO-6 turbo-petrol units with 4 cylinders. The improved formula of the MultiAir II engine makes the new Jeep Renegade model a fairly economical car. The maximum consumption of Renegade in versions with front-wheel drive in the city is no more than 7.5 liters, and in the 4×4 configuration – up to 9 liters.
If necessary, you can also carry cargo on the Jeep Renegade – the trunk can accommodate a relatively small volume (up to 350 liters). Although with the rear seat folded down, the volume increases significantly. It will not be possible to transport large loads off-road even with independent MacPherson suspension: the ground clearance of the Jeep Renegade is not suitable for such feats.
There is an advantageous opportunity to automatically select the driving modes of the machine, according to various climatic and road conditions. This feature will save on fuel consumption, as well as protect equipment from premature wear.
The braking system is also standard for average cars: ventilated discs on the front wheels, and just discs on the rear wheels. Jeep Renegade dimensions: 4255 x 1805 x 1667 mm – this is more of a compromise between the “small class-C” and the “middle class-D”.
