Aggregates
At first, the CX-8 was produced only with a 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine with a capacity of 190 hp. With. and a torque of 450 Nm, which was installed with a 6-speed automatic. However, later the range was expanded with two 4-cylinder gasoline engines: a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G installed on the CX-5, and its turbocharged version (installed on the CX-9). Atmospheric develops 190 hp. with., and its turbocharged counterpart – 230 liters. With.
The drive of the crossover, justifying its class, can be either front or full. All cars are equipped with an intelligent torque redistribution system G-Vectoring Control. Even the simplest front-wheel drive Mazda CX-8 is equipped with i-Activsense electronic assistants.
In Israel, the car is not represented. Do you want CX-8?

Dynamic qualities and fuel consumption
The 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine on the front drive generates 200 hp. and 450 N * m of torque. In combination with a 6-speed automatic, it consumes an average of 6.3 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The same pair of engine and gearbox, but with all-wheel drive, already consumes 6.5 liters. The atmospheric, 2.5-liter gasoline power unit is capable of developing 190 hp. and 252 N * m of torque. When using front-wheel drive, the model consumes an average of 8.1 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The all-wheel drive version uses 100 grams more gasoline for the same distance. Its consumption is 8.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
Interior
The interior of the CX-8 is very similar to the CX-5 from the front, no surprises. It’s a bit dark, mostly black leather, with a black textured finish and some brushed steel, piano finishes and dark wood accents. Ergonomics are generally good, with supportive seats that wrap around you like you would in a sports car. In the second row, everything starts to diverge, the CX-8 has double captain’s chairs, separated by a large armrest/console. The third row offers slightly better legroom than the CX-9, but a shorter roofline and narrower beam limits seating to shorter, slenderer passengers.
With the third row folded down, the luggage compartment is cavernous and flat. And it will probably stay folded up most of the time as car sharing is still not what most people enjoy about this pandemic.
Additional features
In addition to the 360-degree camera system, our CX-8 AWD tester comes with Mazda’s full range of safety features, including radar-assisted adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, brake assist, and driver attention monitoring, the latter of which is quite useful on long journeys. . As with all Mazdas, these assists deliver tiny jolts to keep you in lane or out of trouble, instead of honking horns straight into your brain after four hours of a five-hour drive. The standard FWD CX-8 doesn’t have a front radar built into the grille, so there’s no adaptive cruise or brake assist, but it still retains many other safety features, including six airbags and multiple Isofix mounts.
The line also comes standard with rear climate control system, plus ventilated seats on our AWD unit, all that beautiful nappa leather, the familiar Mazda infotainment system with excellent sound system bose With 10 speakers , Bluetooth, multiple USB ports and Apple CarPlay. and Android Auto… which allows me to spend my favorite mobile data – a combination of Waze-Spotify navigation and music.
Interior
Depending on the modification, the interior of the crossover will receive a fabric, leatherite or leather interior, corresponding to the status of the comfort of the seats, standard or extended functionality of the on-board equipment.
Even in the basic version, the new generation crossover will receive modern characteristics of the media complex, a set of premium options and road safety systems.
The front panel fixes attention on the three dial gauges of the analog instrument panel and the three-tiered layout of the center console. It includes a 7-inch diagonal media-command display, a horizontal block of ventilation deflectors and a cabin climate control panel.
On the front of the tunnel is a technical sector with a gear lever and buttons for activating a piece of onboard equipment. An expanded list of options is available, including a double-leaf armrest with the additional function of a refrigerator cover.
The service list of pilot seats offers several adjustment ranges, heated and ventilated seats. Riders of the second row can tilt the back. The small volume of the 260-liter trunk is increased to 600 liters by a simple transformation of the rear seats.
Specifications
As already mentioned, the 2021 Mazda CX-8 is technically comparable to the CX-9, but its dimensions are slightly reduced and are: length – 4900 mm, width – 1840 mm, height – 1730 mm. It is 175mm shorter, 129mm narrower and 17mm lower than the CX-9 model available for Russia. In addition, the crossover has a good ground clearance of 200 mm. In combination with an all-wheel drive system, the model can perform well off-road. Suspension both front and rear is fully independent. MacPherson type shock absorbers are installed in the front. Behind – the usual multi-link system. The mass of the model, depending on the configuration and engine, ranges from 1810 to 1900 kg. The braking system is all-round disc, but the front discs are ventilated, which allows them to cool faster during heavy braking. It also has an electronic parking brake.
Depending on the type of fuel, 72 liters are placed in the fuel tank of the model. The manufacturer claims that the gasoline version can use both AI-92 and AI-95 fuels. But the trunk of the Mazda CX-8 is able to accommodate up to 239 liters of various luggage. And it has the ability to easily expand to 572 liters when the third row of seats is folded down (+65 liters under the floor).
Two engines are installed under the hood – gasoline or diesel. The first is the atmospheric four-cylinder SKYACTIV-G engine with a volume of 2.5 liters. It is capable of generating 190 hp. and 252 N * m of torque. The 2.2-liter turbodiesel power unit already produces 200 hp. and 450 N * m of torque. Both are paired with a reliable 6-speed automatic transmission. This gearbox transmits power to the front-wheel or all-wheel drive system.

Overview of the interior and exterior of the body
Exterior
As well as constructively, stylistically Mazda CX-8 is close to CX-9. Both cars are characterized by a dynamic appearance, formed by smooth stampings that adorn the hood and side doors, narrow headlights and a large grille with horizontal slats. This image is complemented by a front bumper with a relief structure and a protruding lower part imitating a splitter.
The feed of the CX-8 is designed in the style of other crossovers of the Japanese brand. In particular, as with compact models, this SUV has small headlights with LEDs at the back. Above them are a wing and a relatively narrow glazing. Below is a “recessed” bumper with two rounded exhaust pipes.
Interior
Among the important changes that have affected the interior, it is worth noting the appearance of additional soundproofing materials that the manufacturer has laid along the roof, and the expansion of the list of finishing materials. It included Nappa leather in different colors. The enlarged multimedia screen has taken its usual position for Mazda models on the front panel. Far below it, the manufacturer placed the air conditioning unit, which is closed by the gearshift lever. The transmission tunnel is visually divided into 2 parts. One of them, raised a little higher above the other, is reserved for the keys and the chassis settings selector.
