Available configurations and prices
Car owners valued the predecessor primarily for its affordable price, the new Renault Duster is more expensive. On the official website of the automaker, the following price range is displayed: from 1,017,000 to 2,090,400 rubles. And yet Duster remains the most accessible representative of the class.
The crossover is offered in 4 versions: ACCESS, LIFE, DRIVE, STYLE. The basic version of ACCESS is a front-wheel drive Duster with a 1.6-liter 114-horsepower gasoline engine and a 5-speed “mechanics”. The crossover is equipped with: heated and electrically adjustable side mirrors, front airbags, only front power windows, anti-lock braking and braking assistance systems. In its headlights, the main light is halogen, but the running lights are LED. There are foglights. Seat upholstery fabric. The steering wheel is multifunctional.
The version with a turbodiesel is more expensive than gasoline ones (with low power) – from 1,432,000 with “mechanics” and from 1,828,000 rubles with a CVT.
The top equipment is offered with a CVT, a 150-horsepower gasoline engine and includes equipment:
- remote start,
- single zone climate control,
- Cruise control,
- multimedia with LCD screen (navigation system for extra charge),
- full set of heating (including rear seats),
- complete set of power windows,
- rear camera (for a fee, all-round camera),
- all modern security systems,
- led marker lights,
- 17 inch rims,
- tinted glass.
The cost of the top version is from 1,522,000 rubles. Leather trim – for a surcharge, but the steering wheel is already trimmed with leather.

Prices
At the time of publication, that is, in May 2021, the most affordable Renault Duster of the second generation with a 1.6 engine and front-wheel drive is estimated at 7 million tenge. Naturally, no one will especially buy such cars, but they are needed only in order to show a beautiful number in the “from” column.
The simplest all-wheel drive options will cost 7.5 and 7.9 million tenge for SUVs with 1.6 and 2.0 engines, respectively. Prices for a car with a 1.3 turbo start from 8.8 million for the version with mechanics and from 9.2 million for a crossover with a CVT. The most expensive Duster with all the options is slightly over 10 million tenge.
Separately, we note the diesel version. Duster with a 1.5 dCi engine costs from 8 to 8.9 million tenge, not counting additional options.
Itrasse city
On the city streets, Renault Duster feels at home. Power
A certain discomfort is caused only by the accelerator pedal mentioned above (but this is a matter of habit) and poor rearward visibility. If everything is fine with the side mirrors of the Duster, then there is not much benefit from the salon. Rear windshield
1 / 4
In addition to the rear view camera, the Duster can be equipped with three additional “eyes” One is hidden in the lower part of the radiator grille … … and the other two are in the rear view mirrors The picture from the cameras is not the clearest, but for confident reversing or avoiding uncomfortable stones on the road , for example, it will do just fine. Such a pleasure costs 80 thousand tenge, and you can order it only for the Style 1 / 4 configuration
The work of the suspension does not cause any complaints. Duster practically does not notice any holes or bulging
Outside the city, the crossover also has enough agility, reasonable overtaking is easy. The car holds the track well, but moving at speeds over 100 km / h is no longer as comfortable as we would like. This is due to aerodynamic noise. Although it must be admitted that, thanks to a slightly more littered windshield, the wind bothers noticeably less than in the case of its predecessor.
In general, when driving on the highway, I had an interesting dilemma. The test Duster was shod in “toothy” tires Maxxis Razr AT with a dimension of 225 / 60R17, which revealed one unpleasant feature – in the interval between 90 and 100 km / h they are very vile buzzing. That is, I had to choose: either drive strictly according to the rules and suffer from the hum of the wheels, or get close to the border of the non-penalized threshold and listen to the whistle of the wind.
Transmission
The CVT has unique off-road settings. In Lock mode, the all-wheel drive transmission does not lock up the torque converter up to 45 km / h – and not up to 12 km / h, as in other modes.
This not only increases traction, but also helps to save the “iron” of the variator from sudden loads, which here is the same as that of the Arcana with Capture.
In addition, in Loka, the 1.3 engine switches to another control program – with a calmer and more accurate response to the operation of the gas pedal.
And this is understandable: on the road, Duster with a 150-horsepower turbo engine and mechanics “pulls away”! It easily moves off from the second gear (the first one remained short in an off-road way), confidently picks up speed even from the minimum speed, having fun at the top. Shifting gears with a shortened lever is pleasant. I can’t wait for the snow to melt and we will take measurements of the dynamics.
All-wheel drive and new off-road systems
The All-Mode 4×4-i all-wheel drive system still offers three operating modes: 2WD, 4WD AUTO and LOCK. The LOCK mode is designed for off-road driving and can be activated at speeds up to 80 km / h: in this case, the clutch is forcibly locked, and the torque is distributed between the front and rear axles in a 50:50 ratio.
For the first time, Hill Descent Control is available for the Duster. It is activated in first gear in 4WD LOCK mode and automatically maintains a constant speed (minimum 5 km/h) when the vehicle is traveling downhill. The driver only needs to turn the steering wheel – although it is better not to do this on a descent without unnecessary need.
In addition, the driver of the new Duster will be helped off-road by a new all-round vision system with 4 cameras, as well as the “4×4 monitor” function, which displays the compass and the angles of the longitudinal and transverse body roll on the display of the multimedia system.
Cons and pros
Improvements made it possible to get rid of a number of disadvantages that were inherent in the predecessor. So the car owner of the Renault Duster of the first generation often complained that the car got dirty quickly and badly (due to the wide wing, dirt flew to the side). To get rid of the problem, Renault specialists reduced the size of the rear arches, added large full-time mudguards, and made the thresholds not so outstanding.
Thanks to modern equipment, the crossover is no longer associated with the budget one: the manufacturer’s savings are no longer so noticeable, not striking. Although the plastic remained rigid, they obviously saved money on the foam rubber layer in the armrest (the layer was only a couple of millimeters).
The paintwork is no longer so weak: instead of the previous paintwork, a particularly durable High Durability varnish has been used. How many years it will not peel off is not yet clear. But it will definitely last longer than before.
The manufacturer also worked on soundproofing: it was not possible to achieve complete silence in the cabin, but noise irritants were clearly reduced.
Renault Duster has retained its advantages:
- reliable engines, manual transmission and CVT,
- power suspension,
- roomy trunk,
- acceptable fuel consumption,
- excellent permeability,
- full adaptation to Russian road conditions.
