Salon

The main joy of the owner of such a car is a voluminous interior with good transformation possibilities, moreover, it is qualitatively finished. But, of course, he has weaknesses.

In terms of resource, the leather steering wheel is a nightmare. Already after hundreds of thousands of runs, it wears out, and after a run of 200+ it peels off with holes. White bald spots on the central locking buttons are also not uncommon. Often it is simply tinted.

Scratches on the central box of cars with automatic transmission (for cars with “mechanics” there is a gear lever console) are not so easy to eliminate, soft-bow plastic is very scratched and loses its appearance. The elements of the central tunnel are also scratched if children walk on them with their feet. The flying lining of the box lid under the windshield on the passenger side is usually the result of overheating of the cabin in the sun and careless handling.

The condition of the seats is highly dependent on the physique of the driver and passengers. A heavy rider is a sentence to the seat, it is sprawling at the seams. But in general, the seats and door cards are kept well. A minimum of scratches, and even the silver coating does not peel off.

The climate system is quite successful. Antifreeze does not flow into the cabin, like a regular C4 of the first generation, the air conditioner is just as strong. There is only one problem. Since all cars are equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, they all have a mixing valve on the driver’s side. And she’s prone to breakage. A typical problem is the rotation of the drive shaft sleeve or the pull-off. This happens due to a malfunction in the control unit, it “forgets” the calibrations after the battery is disconnected. Be sure to calibrate the climate if you observe a difference between the temperatures on the left and right. Or after every power failure. Repairing on your own is quite possible, but you will have to master the restoration of plastic with reinforcement and restoration with the help of cyanoacrylate and soda. It just won’t stick.

Specifications

The 2021 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso came to the Russian market recently, but has already managed to fall in love with many. This version has some features that differ from previous models. The main thing is the technical characteristics, which are usually paid attention to first of all when buying. The main parameters should include:

  • engine power from 115 to 150 hp There are some additional differences between engines with the same amount of power;
  • fuel: diesel or gasoline. The diesel option is less powerful;
  • maximum speed: 189-200 km / h;
  • front-wheel drive;
  • acceleration to 100 km / h takes 9.3-12.1 s;

  • Fuel Citroen consumes an average of 4 liters per 100 km of road. The fuel consumption of Citroen in all models is relatively low. In the city, it can reach 6 liters, but the manufacturer has made every effort to reduce the figure to the minimum possible;
  • fuel tank volume 55 liters;
  • Picasso dimensions: 4.6 x 1.8 x 1.6;
  • ground clearance C4 Picasso (clearance), like most minivans, is small – 14.5 cm.

It should be emphasized that it is possible to choose a 5-seat minivan version with a larger trunk, but at the same time smaller dimensions.

“Whimsical THP and its features”

The Citroen C4 Grand Picasso sold by Pavel is restyled. That year, the manufacturer changed the bumpers, the panel in the cabin, but the main thing, according to the Minsker, was the engine: “You can find many complaints about THP on the net: a single-row chain stretches, after 80 thousand km the caps start knocking, there is an “oil burn” (1 liter per 1 thousand km). After the update, many “jambs” were fixed, although the motor is still considered whimsical. For example, he requires only 95th gasoline, no less.

At the same time, the unit is distinguished by high-torque power: it doesn’t matter if there is one person in the cabin or several, it accelerates and goes further, like an iron. After the purchase, I serviced the engine, fixed oil leaks in the turbine area. Of the largest investments – pads, stabilizer struts, air conditioner freon, ball joint.

Everything is not right

Two “glove compartments” are hidden in the corners of the “torpedo”, and next to the refrigerator box there is also a regular “glove” box.

SAT behind the wheel, I finally confirmed my suspicion that the Citroenians wanted to build an airplane, but something prevented them from attaching wings to the compact van. In all other respects, the attempt was a success. At least in regards to the driver’s seat. This place is not a motorist – an aviator.

Instead of the usual instruments – a digital display on top of the front panel. The speed is reflected in numbers, engine speed – a pie chart. The fuel reserve is shown by a shortening bar. And in the middle dominates the color multi-function display, which displays all other information – from navigation to service intervals, from the direction of the cardinal points to the current time.

There is neither the usual gear lever nor the “handbrake”. It doesn’t matter if the car is equipped with a 4-speed “automatic” or a 6-speed robotic “mechanics” – in any case, you choose the driving mode by moving an elegant lever located behind the steering wheel. And the parking brake is activated automatically when the engine is turned off. The car also brakes itself – you just need to press it slightly gas. However, the automatic “handbrake” mode can be turned off, for example, in frost, so that the pads do not freeze. Then a tiny button placed in front of the display will help to put and remove the car from the parking brake.

What a simple thing “steering wheel” – and that in the new “Picasso” is not the same as in normal cars. Only the related C4 hatchback has a similar one: only the rim rotates at the steering wheel, and the hub with numerous keys placed on it remains motionless. At first, this decision is puzzling, but then you get used to it. As well as the fact that the French stuck a voluminous box refrigerator in place of the center console. This is despite the fact that the usual “glove compartment” of a solid size has not been canceled here either.

But the most unusual thing is the huge windshield. It is so large that the interior rear-view mirror had to be hung on a long bracket, and the sun visors were equipped with additional sliding shutters, the idea of which the designers spied on the all-glass cockpits of helicopters. Otherwise, on a clear day, it would simply not be possible to escape from the blinding sun. Alas, there is no perfection in this world: in rainy weather, there is little use from a huge windshield. More like a disorder. Solid “wipers” do not reach the upper edge by about a third, and little by little a luxurious panoramic view is covered with a dirty veil.

Gradually, you begin to notice other shortcomings of the avant-garde in a Citroen style. You wish, say, to change the mode of separate climate control, but this is not so easy to do on the go. The display and climate control keys are hidden in the lower left corner of the front panel, where the light control module or several secondary buttons are usually located. Yes, and there are a lot of keys here – try to find the one you need without taking your eyes off the road too much. It is useless to ask a passenger: from his seat he can regulate the “weather” only in the right half of the cabin …
