The worst enemy of the good
I don’t doubt for a second, the guys from Geely wanted the best for the flagship. And in many ways (very) really succeeded. But before moving on to well-deserved laudatory odes, let me tell you about a thing that can blur the impression. I’m talking about the electric power steering, whose sports preset is gloomy darkness. Who has ever played racing simulators on cheap controllers, they remember this “fake batch” from the off-scale return force and a minimum of useful information.
The combination of the engine and the machine is epoch-making. It is not difficult to believe in passport 6.9 seconds to a hundred: on winter tires with an “extra” passenger, I got seven and a half. But it is better to forget about the sports preset of the electric amplifier. Individual mode, which allows you to select the settings of the accelerator and steering separately, the Chinese did not provide.
Is it worth it in hearts to run for a test ride to competitors? Do not rush – read at least this paragraph. The fact is that the level of mutual understanding of the engine and gearbox of the Geely SUV is such that you can forget about the sports mode without much regret. Even in “comfort”, the cross-coupe cheerfully reacts to the accelerator, willingly breaks into a kickdown tailspin and generally demonstrates good engineering manners. No matter what anyone says about the rate of fire of two-disk robots, the Tugella machine works faster and better than preselectives on crossovers and.
The abundance of casings under the hood clearly hints: do not go anywhere further than the washer reservoir, go to the dealer. The decorative valve cover trim can be used as an ice cube. Don’t thank.
Of course, in terms of the amount of two and a half million rubles, it is stupid and impossible to compare Geely purely with other “Chinese”. For similar money, it is not shameful to look at the well-equipped Kodiak and Tiguan, Sorento and Santa Fe. Or give up dimensions and all-wheel drive, hitting an “adult” premium like a “real” Volvo XC40 or Audi Q3. However, let’s be honest: today Tugella is the best car from the Celestial Empire, officially presented on the Russian market. And so far, there are no other contenders for this title on the horizon.

Geely New Tugella 2022 is equipped with a system for automatically maintaining the set temperature in the cabin and controlling the air conditioner. The climate control unit is ergonomically placed on the center console below the multimedia screen. But we hit a traffic jam, and I’m starting to figure out what’s wrong with me … With a height of 186 cm, I never complained about the lack of arm length. Until I got into Tughella: the steering wheel adjustment range for reach is not enough. The generously endowed seat (cushion angle, lumbar support and headrest are adjustable in four directions) does not compensate for this mistake. As well as the lack of lateral support on the back with a fairly tight grip on the hips.
The rear window, due to the large angle of inclination, even when clean, does not particularly contribute to the review, but there is no “wiper”. There are parking sensors front and rear, plus all-round cameras with good picture quality – but without protection from dirt.

You need to get used to the stampings of the embossed hood – they hide the real dimensions. A couple of times at the last moment I realized (not without the help of the parking sensors) that I was not passing along the trajectory of a turn in a cramped yard.
By the next morning, it had become very cold. So … And where is the remote launch familiar even for state employees? Not a gentleman, I’ll lead it myself. And then the touch of premium with Geely was slightly blown away. The windshield is heated only in the rest zone of the wipers. They clamped a separate button for turning on the heating of the steering wheel, and it is activated only through the multimedia system. And who guessed to save on full heating of the front seats? Only the pillow is heated! It’s good that the seats are ventilated for the summer. But it will be in the summer. And also pillows! Rear passengers quietly gloat: finally, they are not alone in flawed heating.

The second row is not very spacious, but you can live together. The third will be pressed by the massive backs of the front seats and the central tunnel. And over the head of the “air” there will be little. The sofa is not regulated in any way, but it has comfortable head restraints for extreme passengers with ledges of lateral support. A couple of weeks ago, I first saw these on the GAC GS5 crossover.
Didn’t like the light. Near shines nearby. The soft cut-off line only partly compensates for the short-sightedness of the LEDs. Of the additional functions, there is only automatic high beam. Turns are not highlighted either in the yards or on the track. You can’t even call for help with foglights: they don’t exist.
