Handling and off-road performance
Without fail, you should also pay attention to the driving performance of the CheryExeed TXL 2022 crossover. This model boasts good handling. The car confidently holds the road, differs in maneuverability, and besides, obediently reacts to the steering wheel without any delays. As for off-road performance, it is impossible to say unequivocally whether it is worth choosing this model or not. This car is a standard universal vehicle that is optimally suited for all occasions of a motorist. However, this is not a full-fledged SUV, and the crossover will not be able to cross certain obstacles. That is why you should not thoughtlessly get out off-road without outside help, since in some situations all-wheel drive and a clearance of 210 mm will not be enough, given the car’s impressive wheelbase and weight. At the same time, it is worth paying tribute to the suspension system, which turned out to be unpretentious and reliable. With careful operation of the car, it will be possible to completely forget about the repair of the chassis for long tens of thousands of kilometers.
Options and prices, basic equipment
At the end of 2021, the Chinese TXL crossover is offered by official dealers in the Russian Federation in two trim levels: Luxury and Flagship, the recommended starting price of a car is from 2.699 million rubles, in the richer Flagship version – from 2.899 million rubles. At the beginning of 2022, the number of trim levels is unlikely to change.
Unfortunately, in comparison with the pre-styling version, the car has risen in price by 350 thousand rubles, but at the same time, the level of its equipment has become somewhat richer.
In particular, various electronic systems are now included in the standard set of equipment:
- assistance on the rise / descent (HSA / HDC);
- reduction of the probability of capsizing (RMF);
- warnings: about the rapid approach of another vehicle (CVW), possible collision from behind (RCW), rear cross traffic (RCTW), lane change (LCA) and so on;
- there is also blind spot monitoring (BSD).
Exeed TXL standard equipment includes:
- electric mirrors with heating, automatic folding and settings memory;
- power windows with auto-raising / lowering (glasses in the lower position are completely hidden in the door cards);
- LED optical elements, including front / rear lights, DRL;
- airbags: front, curtain, side front;
- electronic systems: ESP, VDC, ABS, EBD, CBC, HDC, HSA, HBA, TCS, RMI, RMF, LCA, RCTW, RCW, CVW, DOW, TMPS;

The car already in the basic version is endowed with sensors that monitor driver fatigue and outside temperature, is equipped with roof rails, a silencer with two exhaust pipes located on the sides of the rear bumper.
The front sills are illuminated, the seat is upholstered in leather, and a small spare tire is included.
The selector of driving modes is installed, it has three positions – these are Normal, Eco and Sport.
The rims in the Luxury version are R18 alloy wheels, there is a function to delay turning off the headlights (“Take me home”).
Are TXL good off-road?
On paper, the Exeed TXL boasts a ground clearance of 210mm and an all-wheel drive transmission with a BorgWarner clutch in the rear wheel drive. But in fact, the patency of the TXL Sport Edition is severely limited by the same retractable running boards – on forest roads we struck them in completely harmless places.
In addition, in difficult sections, the front wheels still slip at first, before the Exeed begins to row all four under the crunch of brakes that mimic the differential locks. But with diagonal hanging TXL still copes without forcing the driver to blush.
What engine? How does it ride?

Turbo engine 1.6 with a capacity of 186 hp and a dual-clutch robot is the only possible combination on our market, although many would prefer a simpler naturally aspirated 2.2 engine.
Similar in size Kodiaq with a 180-horsepower turbo engine from the heart presses into a chair. The Exeed TXL doesn’t feel like a gun, though it does 0-100 km/h in ten seconds.

Part of the dynamics is stolen by a phlegmatic robot. But the main problem is being overweight. In running order (taking into account the weight of the driver) TXL weighs 1800 kg (similar to Kodiaq – 1695 kg). But the total weight is 2100 kg. Formally, only 300 kg can be loaded in Exeed – that is, four passengers 75 kg each without luggage!
Extra pounds, setting up the power unit, selecting the gear ratio of the transmission affect fuel consumption (10 liters on the highway and 15-16 in the city), and the 55-liter tank runs out quickly.
In terms of handling, Exeed can be put on a par with such calm cars as the Nissan X‑Trail or Mitsubishi Outlander, but no more. In sharp turns and during active rebuilding, the body rolls heavily and walks relative to the suspension.
Start of sales
The Chinese crossover CheryExeed TXL can be called a kind of novelty for the Russian automotive market, for the simple reason that free sales of the model started only in October last year. Now the SUV is moderately popular. The official premiere of the cross took place at the beginning of last year, and after that the manufacturer took some time to adapt the model to the needs of Russian buyers. As for the automotive market in China, the SUV debuted here much earlier.
