The finishing material is hard plastic, which corresponds to the class of this car, but despite this, the panels are securely fastened with screw connections, so there are no extraneous noises. Additional decorative inserts, high-quality finishes, a multifunctional audio system on the center console – this is not the whole list of advantages. As for the protection of the driver and passengers, the car is equipped with modern airbags (from one to four, depending on the configuration of the model).

On the second row seats, you can fully experience all the delights of an elongated wheelbase. Despite the fact that the manufacturer refers the model to class B, the wheelbase of 2653 millimeters is more likely to correspond to a higher and more representative C-class. A huge amount of free space allows you to comfortably accommodate three passengers of various sizes. The central panel is almost completely absent, which creates additional comfort for the passenger in the second row center seat. A feature of the model is the original placement of the power window button: instead of the traditional option on the back door, the manufacturer installed the button on the front seat armrest.

DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS

Under the hood, depending on the configuration of the car, two types of engine can be installed: a three-cylinder 1.2-liter power unit with a maximum power of 72 hp. (individual development of the French manufacturer) or a traditional 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a maximum power of 115 hp. For the video review, a complete set with a 115-horsepower 1.6-liter engine was selected. This motor is characterized by high dynamics (due to increased torque) and reduced fuel consumption. You will be able to ride comfortably both in dense city traffic and on highways. The manufacturer offers three types of transmission: a classic five-speed manual, a five-speed robotic transmission and a four-speed automatic transmission.

Often, for an inexperienced motorist, sometimes even a banal replacement of light bulbs can cause serious inconvenience (the need to remove the headlights). In the new Citroen C-Elysee, everything is conveniently and thoughtfully located. As noted earlier, the car was specially adapted for operation in domestic conditions. The best words deserve steel crankcase protection and an adaptation package for electrical equipment (for our cold weather) and suspension (for our roads).

Reliable engine and suspension issues

The 1.6-liter gasoline engine has a cast-iron cylinder block, which indirectly guarantees a long life of the power unit. Theoretically, before the overhaul, you can drive about 500 thousand kilometers. The main thing is not to overheat the engine. With 115 “horses” under the hood, the C-Elysee does not pretend to be a sprinter, but there are enough dynamics in the city.

The asset of the 1.6-liter engine and good maintainability. The design is simple and spare parts are inexpensive. The design of the base 1.2-liter engine is also simple, but 72 horsepower is clearly not enough for a large sedan. In addition, constant operation at high speeds can reduce engine life, which should definitely be taken into account when buying a used C-Elysee.

If the engines of the “Citroen” car deserve praise, then you can not say the same about gearboxes. The four-speed “automatic” is a variation of the AL4, known for its slow shifting and average reliability. And although a modernized box was installed on the C-Elysee, it is still not recommended to drive a car with a full load and in an active style. Otherwise, get ready for problems with the torque converter. Shocks during switching will tell you about the approach of repair. There is only one way out – to give preference to “mechanics”. She is much more reliable.

Suspension Citroen C-Elysee is not reliable. On Russian roads, a complete overhaul of the chassis will be required after 30-40 thousand kilometers. At the same time, a number of parts will have to be replaced even earlier: thrust bearings – after 15 thousand kilometers, wheel bearings – after 20-25 thousand kilometers. Surely the future owners of the French sedan will be strained by constant knocks in the suspension. And this does not at all indicate that something in it needs to be replaced. The mechanics of official Citroen services themselves say that such an unpleasant design feature. She will have to come to terms with it.

Despite the fact that the Citroen C-Elysee is in the class of budget cars, the manufacturer has equipped it with a good set of active and passive safety systems, which is practically in no way inferior to cars in the class above. Among them:

  • The function of tracking the “dead” zones of the car, represented by special light indicators located on the side mirrors;

All this allows the car to provide a high level of safety for both passengers of the first and second row of seats, and also to safely recommend the sedan as a practical, comfortable, inexpensive and safe family car.
