In the basic configuration, the price of Kia Seltos is 1,269,900 rubles. The most economical competitor is the Hyundai Creta, which is 71,000 cheaper. Therefore, a relative of the Korean is equipped with a multimedia complex with a touch screen. Nissan Qashqai is 305 thousand more expensive, and also has richer equipment. Only a low-volume turbocharged power unit can put him to a standstill. The Czech Skoda Karoq, worth 1,565,000 rubles, has a list of equipment similar to the Japanese, plus it offers aluminum wheels that are not available to basic competitors. However, the naturally aspirated engine develops only 110 hp, and the 5-speed manual transmission has one gear less.

The Seltos 1.6 with a gun rides quite confidently in the mud, calmly starts in blurred ruts. But the car has problems on the mechanics. When you release the clutch, there is an acute lack of traction, and the car stalls after a short slip. A couple of times I got stuck in quite funny holes. You have to step on the gas and light up the clutch.

Of course, the current crossovers are not designed based on our tracks, but for the version with a manual gearbox, the gear ratio of the first gear should be increased (now 3.91 versus 4.40 for the version with hydromechanics) – then Seltos will be more confident on the primer. But at the same time, the gap between the first and second will become even larger – will you have to cut the entire transmission row?
Whether the Koreans will make such sacrifices, I don’t know. In the meantime, I see no particular reason, other than economic, for acquiring a Seltos with a manual. It is inferior both in ease of use, and in overclocking dynamics, and in noise – in all respects, the version with a gun is better and more pleasant. And the difference in price is noticeable: the surcharge for a machine with the same level of equipment is about 40,000 rubles.
