The car has keyless access, which, in comparison with competitors, is a rather serious plus in the treasury of the merits of the new Jac J7. In terms of driving to demand something incredible from this car, of course, is not worth it. She is quite ordinary. As for soundproofing, it’s not very quiet inside the cabin, you can hear the engine quite strongly, and you can also hear the noise of the wheels on the road.

How does the car feel on the road? It is quite standard for a model with a 1.5-liter engine. A calm and comfortable option for everyday trips on domestic issues and personal matters.

Features in terms of controllability. The steering wheel sounds great. It is quite soft, while the car is sensitive to any movement of the steering wheel. Upholstered in leather, which is of a better quality than that used for upholstering the seats. The steering wheel is completely mechanical. It is adjustable only in height, not in reach.

The car as a whole is comfortable and convenient. Extremely comfortable seats with ergonomic lateral support ribs. They are quite soft, leather interior. Seat adjustment is fully mechanical in all respects.

The dashboard is not analog, but digital. Which certainly adds points to the car, because not even in all cars of a higher class the dashboard is completely digital.

Attempting to accelerate while moving does not, as expected, result in something incredible in terms of a sharp forward jerk and an increase in speed. It is worth noting that the engine reacts quite calmly to the increased load, for which the machine can definitely be given a plus. 136 l / s, 1.5 liters – the car does not belong to the category of cars designed for high-speed racing or sharp jerks at the same time as changing traffic lights. Rather, it is a family car from the category intended for daily use, while the manufacturer has managed to maintain an attractive semi-sporty design without sacrificing the main function.

Strange configurations (-)

In two of the three trim levels on the J7, the seats are trimmed with leatherette, which, especially in winter, is not so pleasant to sit on. Well, if the upholstery is not glued to the filler. Then it will be relatively inexpensive to build in heating like “Emelya”. But not everyone will decide to “collective farm” a new warranty car.

And why this savings on matches? Put rear parking sensors with only two sensors? And why does a cheap rear view camera appear only in the second version, although there is a display for it? And the other extreme – in the same configuration there are expensive equipment items: leather upholstery and a sunroof.

Smooth character

Driving impressions as such are rather positive: the tandem of the “six-speed” and the 1.5-liter turbo engine turned out to be very successful, and the chassis is balanced, not without reason the simple front McPherson is combined with an independent rear multi-link. You can even squeal the tires in turns, since the rolls are small, the stabilization system is turned off completely, and the rear wheels do not “jump” from the trajectory even on uneven surfaces.

Many are perplexed why for the Russian market the engine power was cut from 150 to 136 l. s., but the turbine is not for annealing: a high-torque, low-forced motor forgives mistakes when choosing gears and allows you to switch to the sixth stage even with 70 km/h. If you turn it above 5000 rpm, instead of a turbo pickup, you can only get a loud whistle, causing concern for the health of the motor.

By the way, it is strange that the passport maximum speed of the “seven” is only 170 km / h: for the same “Octavia” with a 110-horsepower aspirated, it is under 200.

Rides well (+)

Almost every Chinese car today drives well. JAC J7 is no exception. The suspension does not give in to bumps: it is felt that there is a margin for energy consumption. However, it is better to go around large pits, and slow down before the “lying” ones, otherwise it will be tough. And running gear is loud. Feedback on the steering wheel is such that it is always clear how the car will react and at what angle the wheels are turned.

The power unit for a rich configuration – no choice. The 1.5 turbo engine with a capacity of 136 forces of Jaka’s own design is assisted by a Punch variator. At urban speeds, the tandem is nimble, the car easily leaves the traffic light faster than the stream. But after 100 km / h from the engine there is more noise than recoil. And the consumption turned out to be a bit high – 9.7 l / 100 km in the combined cycle. No traffic jams!

Interior

In the design of the cabin with a five-seater layout, budgetary, fabric, leatherite and plastic finishing materials corresponding to the status of a sedan were used. In the layout of the front panel, there are similarities with the design features of the cabin design of the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz E class.

  • The design of the sports type of the multifunction steering wheel provides a full view of the digital instrument panel supplemented with computer functionality.
  • Most of the command and adjustment functionality is placed on the vertical touch screen of the small-format center console.
  • On the front segment of the central tunnel is a remote control for fine-tuning the climate control system and the audio system. The central part is occupied by a platform with a transmission selector, a set of organizers and several command buttons. The armrest with a large glove compartment for small luggage completes the design of the tunnel.

It should be noted that the number and functionality of the technical and electronic equipment of the sedan complies with current European standards.

Dynamic qualities and fuel consumption

Another very important aspect that should definitely be considered when evaluating a new Chinese vehicle. In the case of dynamics, this model is a strong middle peasant in the class, without significant features and all sorts of attempts to stand out from the competition. Up to the first hundred, the model does not accelerate as quickly as we would like. On average, this takes about 11 seconds. As for the maximum speed, it is limited to 170 km / h, and this is also not the most productive result among classmates.

This car can't really stand out from the background

This car cannot stand out much from competitors in terms of economy, regardless of the chosen power unit. As a rule, in a combined cycle, for every hundred kilometers a vehicle will consume about 7.5 liters of fuel. AI-92 gasoline or a mixture with a higher octane number is used as the main fuel. It is worth mentioning that the optimal indicators declared by the manufacturer were prescribed here, which not all modern motorists can support, given the personal driving style and numerous other related factors.
