The Q5 picks up speed confidently, but too detached from the driver – I would add a pinch of liveliness and sparkle here!

Acoustic comfort is at a high level. The engine is muffled, the headwind is not audible, only the tires rustle. Especially the 20-inch Michelin Latitude Sport 3. These were on a car with electronically controlled shock absorbers, for which they charge a surcharge of 73 thousand rubles. And they did not impress: irregularities do not go unnoticed, buildup is felt. The clearance of such a Q5 is 206 mm.
I would advise not to be cowardly and pay extra 140 thousand for air suspension. It absorbs “the horrors of our town” much better and does not allow buildup. This version was shod with 235/55 R19 Continental SportContact 5 tires, which more confidently absorb the microrelief of the road, and are less noisy. I recommend.
And the pneumatic chassis allows you to increase the ground clearance from the standard 186 to 231 mm. With such a clearance, it is not a sin to move off-road. But not today – the rains washed away the surrounding fields, turning them into an impenetrable mess. Here even the Kruzaks have nothing to catch.

The mechanical part of the 2021 Audi Q5 has remained virtually unchanged. This means that the model is based on the same platform as in the pre-styling version. The suspension has a fully independent multi-link structure with disc brake elements front and rear. The power steering is represented by an electronic mechanism.

For Russia, two turbodiesel engines of 2.0 and 3.0 liters will be available, with a capacity of 190 and 249 hp. respectively. There is also a plug-in hybrid unit in the Audi Q5 engine range, consisting of a TFSI gasoline engine and two electric motors. Their total power is 367 hp.

Operation in the city and on the road
The Audi Q5 crossover has an extensive range of driver assistance systems. All these systems have a positive effect on the overall performance and behavior of the model while driving. The air suspension intelligently distributes the load during cornering at high speed, exposing the body as smoothly as possible when cornering, thus minimizing all possible rolls. The legendary Quattro all-wheel drive system has been brought to almost perfection throughout its introduction in the Audi model. In the Q5, it intelligently determines which road surface is moving and adapts to it, disabling and connecting the rear axle in order to provide the driver with the greatest comfort.
In addition, for maximum convenience, several different driving modes are provided. Some of them will stiffen the suspension while driving on flat Autobahn, which will improve the connection between the rider and the wheels. In other cases, the suspension can become soft and smooth, allowing you to move quickly and without shaking on country dirt roads. It is also worth saying that the Quattro all-wheel drive system, as well as the increased air suspension clearance, will play an important role when the Audi Q5 goes off-road.
Handling and off-road performance
The Audi Q5 behaves differently when driving. The fact is that the car is equipped with an extensive list of on-board electronics, which, for example, can independently park the crossover both in parallel and longitudinally. If there is an air suspension, then it also provides the most accurate entry into turns without the participation of the driver. Also noteworthy is the all-wheel drive, which automatically detects the nature of the road conditions and connects or disconnects the rear axle, depending on the circumstances. Therefore, the Audi Q5 is equally stable on asphalt, dirt roads or snow.
On the other hand, the German crossover was “sharpened” for driving characteristics, as a result of which even minor bumps can be heard in the cabin. But to increase comfort on bumpy roads, a special mode is provided that allows you to drive on a dirt road at medium speeds. And off-road, in addition to all-wheel drive, an air suspension helps, which automatically changes the size of the clearance.
Design
As part of a smooth restyling, Audi has made, albeit pointwise, but noticeable changes to the body of the Q5 crossover. The car acquired a large hexagonal grille with an expanded mesh. Large plastic inserts were installed on the sides of the front bumper, into which fog lights were introduced. Due to the increase in the size of the radiator grille, the central air intake has noticeably decreased. The head optics turned out to be a little bit already, the graphics of which have also undergone changes. Improvements also affected the stern, where a pronounced spoiler appeared. New LED lights with a different architecture are installed here. Long strips of additional brake lights are built into the rear bumper, under which trapezoidal exhaust pipes are placed.
The interior has been redesigned no less. Moreover, most of the changes made had a positive impact on the ergonomics of the interior space. As before, the center console with a compact climate control unit and a touch monitor located on top is slightly turned towards the driver’s seat. The transmission tunnel retained the original gearshift lever and was replenished with a metal insert coming from the passenger seat. The size of the luggage compartment of the Audi Q5 is 550 liters.
