Review Haval F7x 2019-2021

Not “hawal”, but “hawal”

Haval is a relatively young company – it spun off from Great Wall in 2013 and was immediately aimed at producing expensive and equipped SUVs. The name of the brand is pronounced “hawail”, with the accent on the last syllable. Belarus receives Haval cars from the Russian plant in Tula. This is not some garage where wheels are screwed, but a large enterprise with a production capacity of 80,000 cars a year and a high degree of automation. By the way, now Haval is working on a project for an engine production plant, which will also be located in the Tula region. In general, this brand has come to our region for a long time.

Four Haval models are currently available in Belarus: frame SUV H5huge H9 liner, as well as two youth SUVs – F7 and its coupe version F7x. Only the lazy did not note that the F7x is too similar to the BMW X6 (as if you could make a coupe-like SUV with a different body silhouette). Although in size it is more correct to compare it with the BMW X4, and even better with Geely FY11.

Fun fact: This Haval was designed by Belgian designer Pierre Leclerc, who worked for BMW in the 2000s and was responsible for the development of the first X6. If you do not take into account the silhouette of the body, then the F7x, like its universal brother F7, looks self-sufficient – the model is difficult to confuse with the product of any other brand.

How does it ride?

They stung the already poor set of units, leaving only a 2-liter turbo engine with 190 hp. It works exclusively in tandem with a 7-speed preselective robot.

The two-liter “four” confidently accelerates Haval, but the joy is smeared with two buckets of tar. You have to pay for the dynamics with an extraordinary expense: on the highway at a speed of 100–110 km / h, the F7x consumes 11 liters, and in the city it is better not to look at the readings of the trip computer at all.

Even more annoying wayward box. As long as you drive smoothly and slowly, everything is fine – but it’s worth spurring … Each sharp press on the gas is accompanied by an intriguing pause, and only then the robot’s disks close – and the car abruptly takes off unpleasantly. I’m not surprised: almost no one has succeeded in creating an ideal robot with two clutches on the go.

If it were not for our operator’s car with a cable in the trunk, we would have to follow the tractor.

On a dense primer, the F7x is quite good. The steering and suspension remain unchanged, which is a good thing. On a grader, it thoroughly filters out most bumps and bumps. And, in my opinion, it does it even too softly; for a coupe, a stiffer suspension would be preferable. Energy consumption will not suffer much, but F7x turns will become more interesting. However, it is already well controlled: it stands on an arc with dignity, and the amplifier generates intelligible feedback on the steering wheel. Only the rolls are too big – again for a cross-coupe. Together with a slightly loose steering wheel, this makes the reactions heavy. But in general, Haval is understandable, predictable and reliable, and this is a significant achievement for the Chinese auto industry.

A modern crossover has modern security and comfort systems. Despite the relatively low cost of the Haval F7x, the crossover received many modern systems. The list of coupe-like novelties includes:

  • Seat belt indicator;
  • Open door warning;
  • ABS+ESP;

  • 3.5″ color display;

Most likely, this is not the whole list of what the manufacturer installs on the new Haval F7x. As new copies of the model are produced, they will be equipped with more modern systems, which means that the next batches of crossovers of this model will be able to surprise with something new.
