Today we have a review of the Audi A8 in the long version. This is a special car for several reasons. First, it is Audi’s flagship sedan. Secondly, the car is really big.
This is the largest sedan of the entire German trio.
It is wider and longer than the BMW 7 and Mercedes S-Class. But the huge size made it quite elegant. The car does not look like a huge heavy limousine.
In the latest restyling, the hood and headlights have been slightly changed. It looks very harmonious and solid. The main goal of this foreign car is not to produce a wow effect, but to look very dignified. It’s like a well-tailored suit that looks very presentable,
In the 2016 Audi A8, a number of design decisions were applied to hide the dimensions. The wide hood emphasized several facets. It was slightly raised, which generally smoothed out the width. Chrome strips at the top and bottom narrowed in front of the car. From the side it is already noticeable that the car is long. Minimal overhangs front and rear. At the rear, the headlights were slightly narrowed and expanded, partially transferred to the trunk lid. Horizontal lines make the back of a foreign car more compact. An additional line runs along the rear pillar and trunk lid, narrowing the size of the car.
Door closers are installed. Now, no matter how hard you close it, the door will not slam.

The list of power plants of the restyled model has been replenished with a rechargeable hybrid, the output of which has been increased to 462 hp. The Audi A8 engine range consists of the following units:
- a three-liter V6 with a return of 340 hp, a 460-hp V8 and a modification of the S8 with a capacity of 571 hp. (all petrol);
- diesel three-liter V6 with a return of 286 hp
After the exclusion of the diesel V8 from the line of engines, for lovers of fast driving, there was either a gasoline 460-horsepower V8, which accelerates to a hundred kilometers in 4.4 seconds, or a 571-horsepower S8, which is another 0.6 seconds better. All installations work in tandem with a hydromechanical automatic transmission. The restyled version of the Audi A8 is equipped with a non-alternative all-wheel drive.
The parameters of the car body are as follows: from 5190x1945x1473 to 5320x 945×1485 mm. The length of the A8L version is 5190 mm, while the regular version is 5320 mm. Accordingly, the wheelbase is 2998 and 3128 mm. The turning radius is within reasonable limits – 6.2 meters. Also, the Audi A8 boasts a large luggage compartment – 505 liters.
Test Drive
The car can be lowered and raised. There are several driving modes – “Comfort”, “Auto”, “Speaker”, “Individual” (here you can customize the car for yourself – the operation of the box, gas pedal, pneumatic system).
Whether you are driving on the road or standing in a traffic jam, you can’t hear anything around you. Everything is very quiet, even the motor is not audible. Complete silence. Audi has the best soundproofing of the big German trio.
The ride is very comfortable, you can ride and ride indefinitely. Fuel consumption per 100 km – 13.7 liters.
